Hello!
I am Arpit -- a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh. I also work closely with the Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics.

My primary research interest lies in understanding the role of symmetries in nature from various viewpoints.

My academic worldsheet can be found in the CV given below.
Research Interests
I am interested in anything and everything that involve the phrase "symmetries of nature". To be precise, on the formal side -- I am interested in understanding the broad concept of "generalised symmetries" and how they are related to conventional symmetries. On the applied side -- I am interested in building low energy descriptions of strongly coupled systems using the symmetries that characterise them by employing techniques -- from holography & hydrodynamics -- which capture the universal nature of these symmetries.

As a side quest, I am also interested in the classification of certain quantum field theories called 2D rational conformal field theories (RCFTs). A by-product of such a classification involves exploring the mathematical structures underlying these theories such as the theory of modular forms, representation theory of Lie algebras, etc. As a result, these I am interested in understanding these concepts.

Previously, as a master's student, I worked on issues pertaining to unitarity in black hole physics.

Above I have given an macroscopic description of my work. For a microscopic viewpoint please click on the following links.
